Every person has a lot to teach you not by preaching but by their actions and experience. When you travel you get to meet different people. Many people you will love, but some you wish you never meet again.
You come to terms with how people react differently and how to navigate through life keeping in mind their individual personalities.
When you’re in your comfort zone, you are very conscious of how to deal with new people. But, travel thrusts you into an all-new zone where you have to deal with no way around.
The Ladies at Aihole
While in Aihole in 2020, I met a group of ladies who were awed by our dressing sense. It all started with gaping, comments made within their group and then culminated with them walking up to us and asking where we are from.
Although I couldn’t help but be annoyed by their initial comments on my attire, I was left enthralled by how they looked at the world.
It was apparent this was their first travel vacay. They were horrified (I couldn’t get a better term) at the idea of how my friend and I were traveling without men.
But as the conversation went on, they were more awestruck by how we were independent women, earning our pay and getting away from home just to see our India.
A sense of pride filled my heart with their heartfelt compliments and appreciation of what most of us take for granted. I vowed to put in my bits at finding peace in what I do.
Key Takeaways
This is just one of those scenarios where strangers have baffled my perception of life. Some encounters have even led me to change my attitude and behavior. All in all, every person I meet has something to offer, to make me a better person.
And when I came back to Bangalore, I carried this story to my friends. While many laughed at the ladies’ offer to find us “good men” among their town, they were interested in how the women reacted to us.
We’re all different. Hoping or even expecting the same perspective in life can cause a lot of problems. After this trip, I had a mind to my peers; how they lived different lives and had different opinions. This helped me solidify my relationships with them and stop judging them.
We only react to situations based on what we’re exposed to. Travel, meet new people, gain some wisdom because a stranger has better life lessons to share than in any book or classroom.
