Angsana Oasis Resort & Spa, Bangalore Review—Is relaxation guaranteed?

I don’t know what it is about 2021! But seriously, it was like the world took the new year, new you to become utterly normal. Or maybe it is them settling into the new normal or trying to make up for the year lost, but still, it feels funny that the coronavirus took a backseat as soon as the clock struck 12 on New Year.

Landscape at Angsana Oasis Spa & Resort
Lush greens surround every inch of the property.

It could also be the vaccine that has brought that out. Whatever the reason, everyone is trying hard to catch up on sales, work, and business that it has been a tough two months! So, we decided why not spend Galentine’s Day at a spa, relaxing. Because I never relax on trips as I’m busy exploring every nook and corner.

So, we booked a night’s stay on Valentine’s Day at Angsana Oasis Resort & Spa at Rajankunte, Bangalore. Being just 30 km from MG Road it was the perfect spot without much travel.

Overall 3.9/5 rating for Angsana Oasis

Angsana Oasis Resort – The landscaping

The resort is amazing! And I mean the lush greenery, the vast grounds and scenic beauty had us floored while booking the room. But in reality, the colors shine even more bright. Well-manicured lawns, dotted with plants, trees and flower pots—it was simply magical. Our room was near trees with pink blossoms that looked lovely. The buildings having a stone exterior adding to their rustic charm. It looks straight out of a European movie! There are also plenty of pet fishes in glass bowls and a Koi pond near the spa.

Angsana Oasis Facilities

Room

We stayed in an executive room (the cheapest room available) and endured a bad experience. The place is packed and so to find a power outlet included a lot of gymnastics and moving around of the furniture. Most of the lamps weren’t working and the shower was more of a drip-irrigation.

Games – Indoor & Outdoor

An indoor game room with carrom, air hockey, chess, table tennis, and foosball to name a few and there are basketball and tennis courts along with a squash court and a ground for cricket, football or any games you want to play. There is also a separate kids’ playroom.

Angsana Spa

The spa on the premises is a lovely place detached from the residential area to provide a calm ambiance. With rooms shuttered in blinds and bamboo fencing to give privacy but still gives it an outdoorsy feel. We took the Angsana Signature spa which is a 60-min full body Thai massage. It was a lovely experience. It comes equipped with a shower and toiletries you can use. Also, there are two-bed massage rooms which is an excellent thing for couples.

Pool & Sauna

The resort offers a pool (now open for use), a sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi facility. While the pool is free, I guess the other rooms are chargeable.

Restaurant

There are three restaurants at the Angsana Oasis—Sundance (bistro), Tangerine (restaurant), Mirage (bar). Mirage exclusively offers only bar food (finger food, burgers, sandwiches and on request pizzas). They push buffet which is around 850+taxes (not sure if this varies) and a la carte is not an option they prefer.

Chicken club sandwich at Mirage, Angsana
I just love this sandwich, sunny-side-up egg fitted into one layer with veggies and diced chicken and lettuce with mayo sauce in the second.

The experience at Angsana Oasis

Okay, let’s just say the experience at Angsana was really relaxing at first but seemed to plummet as time went by. I do not know if this was a one-time experience or if they’re really understaffed. Anyways, the room wasn’t up to our standards after paying over 6k per night. The service was even more pathetic as the food took over an hour to be served.

To top this, there was a wedding that took place due to which one restaurant was always shut down to cater to the crowd. And surprisingly they shut the bar during the wedding for no reason and without intimation to us. The check-in and check-out were both bad experiences as they didn’t inform us of the available facilities, or share the breakfast details, no one to lug our luggage both times.

To sum up, we spent around INR 15000 (room, food and spa for two) and didn’t expect the kind of lethargy in service and facilities.
