Ooty is a splendid place to visit for all seasons. Its cool weather and lush greens throughout the year guarantees a peaceful vacation. So if you’re up for a small trip, here’s Ooty itinerary for 3 days.
Ooty Itinerary Day 1
- 7 AM: Take the toy train to Mettupalayam
- 12 PM: Check-in to your accomodation
- Lunch
- 2 PM: Drive to Doddabetta peak
- 3.30 PM: Visit the Tea Factory & Museum
- 5 PM: Walk in the Rose Garden
- 7 PM: Visit the local markets (For shopping)
Ooty Itinerary Day 2
- 8 AM: Take a stroll through the Botanical Gardens (50 hectares) also visit the Toda Temple
- Breakfast
- 10-12 PM: Visit all the shooting spots en route Pykara [Pine Forest, Tree Park (6th mile), Wenlock Downs (9th mile) and Kamaraj Sagar Dam]
- 12.30 PM: Visit Pykara Falls
- 1.30 PM: Take a boat ride in the Pykara Lake
- Lunch
- 3 PM: Head back to town
- 4 PM: Enjoy Ooty Lake & Boat House
- 6 PM: Visit St Thomas & St Stephens Church
Ooty Itinerary Day 3
- 9.30 AM: Safari at Avalanche (2 hours)
- Lunch
- 2 PM: Take in the view from Dolphin’s Nose
- 3 PM: Soak in the beauty of Lamb’s rock
- 5 PM: Back in Ooty
- 5-7 PM: Try the Wax World Museum or Bee Museum
Tips for the trip
- There are no rental bikes, hire a cab or drive your own car/bike.
- Since cabs are costly keep aside Rs 4,000-5,000 on local transport alone.
- Take warm clothes, even during summer. The air gets cold, especially between 5 PM-7 AM.
- Parking & entry fees vary between Rs 10-50 everywhere.
- Speed boating at Pykara costs Rs 840 for three (5-min duration). However, a pool of 8 people can get a 20-min boat ride at Rs 815.
- The Safari at Avalanche costs Rs 200 per person. You can also hire a jeep for Rs 2,000.
- Woollen clothes are the best shopping you can do- ponchos, sweaters, beanies, hats and mufflers.
- Buy chocolates after tasting as it can be too sweet.
