Why you must visit Bangalore Palace at least once!

When you think of Bangalore, the only things that come to your mind are tech hubs, garden city (not so much now), all the sleek buildings, glass towers and so on. But your one visit to Bangalore palace can guarantee a change in your mindset of how this destination was revered back then!

Bangalore palace

It isn’t about feeling like royalty or about being a princess for a day, it is mostly about what decor and splendor mean to the upper class before Bangalore progressed into a silicon city.

Decor isn’t all about money!

The decor in Bangalore palace is layered in patterns, colours and designs

There’s a dizzying array of patterns and colors on every surface of the palace—walls, floors, ceilings, furniture even! The palace is such contrast to how we perceive Bangalore to be, that you’re left wondering what were the kings thinking!

Bangalore for me somehow is all about modernism, minimalism (it could be just my perception though) and clean-neat lines. But the Bangalore palace is shrouded in maximalism at its best. Every wall has rich tones and textures matted with pictures. Despite its large size, you wouldn’t see any space lacking furniture, mirrors or decor of any kind. In contrast to this, the exterior is covered in a green veil of creepers and plants.

A glimpse into art appreciation

From paintings depicting war to nudes to portraits, the palace has it all. The art is so fine that you can’t even make out if it is an actual black and white photograph or a painting. The palace has lots and lots of artwork at every nook and corner.

Furniture styles

Be it the table in the corner with just a vase or the ornate dressing unit I fell in love with! The palace furniture is something that screams royalty. Expensive wood (I really have no clue about kinds of wood), stylish designs, intrinsic carvings, they’re all there. I did pick some designs for my own home to be done because the pieces out there are inspired.

All in all, the Bangalore palace is nothing to sneeze about. But when compared to Mysore Palace, this is not such a behemoth of Indian history. For those who want a peek into the culture, audio tours are the way to go. But my girl gang decided on sightseeing and loads of pictures.

You can easily spend 2-3 hours here and not feel the strain. Take time to soak in as much as possible because this isn’t a place you’ll tend to visit twice. For more details on pricing, limitations and facilities, read this post here.
